Free eye test for road users at Mansfield Library

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE County Council is inviting Mansfield's road users to have their eye sight checked free of charge at the library.

The County Council has joined forces with Vision Express to offer the free eye check during the week beginning Monday, January 21.

All road users, whether they are motorists, cyclists, motorcyclists or pedestrians, are being urged to take up the opportunity of the free check in a bid to improve safety on the county's roads.

Recent statistics suggest that poor vision can be a major contributor to road traffic accidents.

No booking is required for the free sessions which are being held at Mansfield library between 10am and 2pm.

The council's principal highway safety officer Zena Oliver said:

 "Good eyesight is essential for safe driving, riding and crossing the road.

"If anyone is having difficulty reading road signs and street names, or driving at night, then please get your eyesight checked at one of our free drop-in sessions. They cost nothing and could make a real difference to your safety – and that of others – on the county's roads.

"And remember, if you've already been told you need prescription glasses or contact lenses for driving, to use them when using the road."

Anyone attending the library drop-in sessions will receive a voucher from Vision Express offering a free full eye test at one of their branches, an MOT of their existing glasses (e.g. adjusting screws, nose pads etc) and 10% off any glasses subsequently bought.
